Michigan Trip – Day 5 – Bay City/East Coast

September 7, 2024 – Today we traveled across the state of Michigan, from the west coast to the east coast. The trip was about 125 miles / 2 hrs. During this trip we traveled up the east coast where we saw a very unusual pedestrian bridge… it was called the “Midland Tridge”. It was three suspension bridges that meet in the middle, over two different rivers.

Another site we stopped near the bridges, was a garden called Dow Gardens. Early in the 20th century, the Dow family settled on this land and he studied how to create a forest full of trees and all kinds of flowers. The descendant of the original Dow family were chemists and created the Dow Chemical company we know of today. Midland is the home of the Dow Chemical Company headquarters.

The garden was huge and was very beautiful. A lot of walking around on the trails, but was very rewarding.

One of the features of the gardens was the Canopy Walk – bridges over the gardens viewed above…

We arrived at Bay City, Michigan in time for supper at a local Olive Garden. The Shrimp and Scallops Scampi was new and was delicious. Renee had spaghetti and meatballs. We stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites for the night.
