Alaska Trip Day 14 – Travel to Banff, Canada
July 31, 2023
After eating a really good breakfast at the Hilton at Kamloops, we headed out toward Banff. There were several adventures we wanted to do on the way to Banff/Canmore.
After traveling a few hours, we stopped at a small town called Revelstoke. We drove to Mt. Revelstoke in the Revelstoke National Park. We had to purchase a 3-day Canada National Park Pass because we intend to hit several other National Parks during our stay. We drove about 30 minutes to the parking area where the trailhead to the summit was located.
The hike to the summit was quite strenuous, and somewhat steep at several points. However, it was a paved path, but Renee and I almost didn’t make it to the top. It was 1km (or a little over 0.6 miles) to the top from the parking area. The 1.2 mile hike up and back took a toll on our knees. We were pooped out when we returned to the car. Here are some pictures from the adventure.
After the hike, we got back into the car and headed toward Banff, BC, Canada. On the way we entered another national park called Glacier National Park. As we traveled through the park, we entered into an area called Roger’s Pass. It was absolutely gorgeous. Pictures just do not do it justice. The surrounding mountains were so amazing. The mountains were super steep and so astounding.
After Roger’s Pass, we traveled to the next national park, Banff National Park. We drove through Banff Town Center just to see it for the first time. Then traveled another 15 miles to Canmore, BC, Canada, where we would stay at Coast Canmore Hotel and Conference Center. After checking in to the hotel, we went into Canmore Town Center and ate at a mexican restaurant. It wasn’t the same kind of mexican we were used to, but it was all good. Just a little spicier.
After supper, we walked around town. Most of the stores closed up at 8pm. Returned to the room and retired for the night. Tomorrow, we go to see Lake Louise and Lake Moraine.
