Alaska Trip Day 9 – Skagway, Alaska

July 26, 2023

After a good night’s sleep, we all met for breakfast in the Dining Room. Food was great and had plenty. The serving staff was always very cordial and always seemed to be so happy. We enjoyed the excellent service that Holland America Cruise Line provided. Not sure we could go on another cruise line. They were top-notch.

Today, we get off the ship to visit the nice little resort town of Skagway. It compares to a little Gatlinburg. Full of shops and restaurants for visitors to spend their money. The ship pulled into the port that was directly in front of the main street in Skagway.

Many of the buildings and shops were old-looking and sometimes strange. We had fun just walking around the city and seeing the sites of such a cute town.

And then we thought we were on Bourbon Street in New Orleans…

Renee and Teresa found some unusual friends along the way…

When visiting Skagway, you have to try the best pastry shop in town, Klondike Doughboy. You have to try the Alaskan Fry Bread. It was so good. We all enjoyed some.

… and was a favorite place for the birds to pickup some scrapes.

Skagway was a small resort town, but was fun to experience. There were all kinds of shops and experiences to have there. It was clean and well kept. After a few hours in Skagway, we returned to the ship.

Before turning in for the night, we stopped by and watched the show of two pianos. They were very, very talented pianists and played many of the songs of our time, singing and playing at the same time. It was very entertaining. A must see show.
