We arrived to Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport about 2:45pm. As we were on our way to get our luggage, we saw the opportunity to get real close to a moose and decided to take our pictures.

Here we are on the plane in Nashville, on our way to Alaska!

We got our luggage and rented a car to travel around the area. Checked into our hotel: Homewood Suites by Hilton in Anchorage. Around 5pm local time, we decided to go to a nearby restaurant to eat some supper. We kinda skipped lunch because of the flights. Someone here suggested the restaurant called The Bear Paw, only a couple blocks from our hotel.

Renee had a meatloaf sandwich and I had a grilled salmon plate. The salmon was the best I’ve ever eaten. Not sure why, but it had the best taste, was moist and tender.

This salmon platter was the best!

Took the car around the city of Anchorage seeing some of the sites. Went by one house that had a large fence in cage on the corner of their house. Inside was a real reindeer. Its name was “Star”. There is a YouTube about their “pet”. Check out her story on YouTube… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HS37ff1xAk

At home it is 11:30pm, and it is 8:30pm here and like it is 6pm outside. They say it will be light outside until about 11pm local time. Guess we will go to bed. Big day tomorrow… taking the rental car and doing some sightseeing about an hour outside of Anchorage before starting our Holland America Land/Cruise tomorrow night at a local Anchorage hotel.
